Scholastic Championship Event! Many Trophy Prizes, USCF Invitational Nomination! Sponsored by the Connecticut State Chess Association Sunday, January 17, 2026 Round 1 at 11
AM, then ASAP Greenwich Academy Online registration thru January 10, link at ChessCT.org; Onsite ends at 12 PM. Rds/Sec/TC/Byes: Open, U1300, U800: 4 Rounds SS, G/45+10; USCF & New England-rated; One ½ point bye for Rounds 1 through 3. Prizes: Trophy to Top 3 per section and any 3-1 or better result, not otherwise placing. Trophy to Top U1500, U1000 and U500 in their respective sections. Medals to non-placing participants. (Team competition, if 3 teams register.) Top Connecticut player in Open receives State Champion trophy. Tie break: See event flyer for tiebreak of 1st place ties. Nationals: CT Champion and second in Open receive Nominee and Alternate status to 2026 USCF National Invitationals. See Connecticut Nomination Rules. Entry Fee: Register online: $65 by 1/7; $75 by 1/13; $95 by 1/15; $115 by 1/16; $150 onsite by 12 PM, exact change cash only, Round 1 bye at organizer’s discretion. GM/IM free, titled 50% off by 1/13. Member/sibling/hardship discount available. Out-of-state: Other states welcome, but ineligible for state title and Invitational nomination. Connecticut player: (a) any player whose state is designated Connecticut (“CT”) with U.S. Chess, or (b) any player who (i) resides or (ii) attends school in the state of Connecticut.
